More info about Gordon Murray's T-25 can be found on his website.
One of the biggest stories of 2008 was the Big Three, and the financial woes of Chrysler, Ford and General Motors. Even after a massive bailout from government, their future is still on shaky ground. But the auto industry is far from dead. In the shadows lurk a number of start-ups -- run by teams of innovative engineers ready to build the cars of the future.
That's where Gordon Murray comes in. He is one of the world's most respected auto engineers who, back in the nineties, designed the F1 McClaren, once the world's fastest street legal car. In fact, Gordon Murray has devoted most of his life to auto racing. But now, he's shifted gears ... in a big way. He's gone from extreme horse power, to a tiny automobile called the "T-25 City Car". The T-25 won Gordon Murray the 2008 "Idea of the Year" award from AutoCar magazine. And, his car could hit the pavement as early as this year.
Gordon Murray joined "As It Happens" from our studio in London, England recently to talk about his revolutionary car and the future of the industry.
