You know, growing up on the East Coast with those Maritime winters - and autumns - and, now that I think of it, springs - I thought the best thing you could do with a ball of yarn was to set yourself up with a cableweave sweater and a pair of socks. But take a look at what a group of talented knitters from the UK have done with their needles.
The Customs House Arts Centre is creating projects to engage the knitters in the community, and it's most recent project of reproducing famous paintings in knit and crochet is truly a masterpiece.
On the left are the knitted, crocheted and darned copies; on the right, the masterpieces that inspired them.
Our Facebook page has a gallery with further highlights from the exhibit.
Oh, and don't get me wrong, the cableknits are terrific - especially when those Nor'easters blow in. Think of this as art that could warm more than just the soul.
