Animated kid's film wins Pitch This! contest

Last Updated: Tuesday, September 11, 2007 | 6:24 PM ET

Toronto filmmakers Jim Goodall and Paul Lenart are winners of the sixth annual Telefilm Canada Pitch This! contest run by the Toronto International Film Festival.

The two have won $10,000 to go toward the development of their project Giantland.

Goodall and Lenart's project is a live action/animated feature, using puppetry and CGI effects, in which two kids fall into sink and enter a fantasy land of giants.

Both filmmakers have some experience in animation. Goodall is working on a third feature film script for the Canadian Film Centre's feature film program, while Lenart has completed an animated film for the National Film Board

During a two-hour bear pit session, pre-selected participants have six minutes to pitch their feature film idea live to an audience of more than 250 industry professionals.

Industry veterans serve as pitch coaches to help the participants present their idea.

Previous winners include Chaz Thorne for Poor Boy's Game (2001), which is being screened at this year's festival. Richie Mehta captured the prize for Amal in 2005 and has returned to TIFF with the film.
