Jelena Adzic, Host
Jelena Adzic is host of CBC Newsworld's flagship weekly arts program The Weekend Scene, The Daily Scene, and The Scene Express.
Since joining CBC in 2002, Adzic has reported from events such as the annual Toronto International Film Festival, The Academy Awards in Los Angeles and the Live 8 world benefit concert. Every Friday, Adzic provides spirited film critiques on CBC News: Morning, Newsworld Today and CBC's supperhour news programs. Previously, she served as the host of a weekly, hour-long current affairs program on Vision TV, which received a Galaxi award for Best Information Magazine Program. She also worked as the national reporter for TechTV and as a host on The Biography Channel Canada. Adzic was the Senior Producer of Workforce, a career show for youth that aired on TVO. She also traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean as producer of a CTV travel series that also aired in the U.S. Born in Belgrade, Serbia and raised in Toronto, Adzic earned her university degree in political science and business administration. She followed that up with formal training in documentary film production. She then worked for a newspaper in Korea, and later on film sets in Finland. She's interviewed leaders such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire, authors John Irving and Deepak Chopra, as well as celebrities Dustin Hoffman, Brad Pitt and Susan Sarandon. |
