The move north of the border for the Los Angeles-set, '80s arena rock jukebox musical had been rumoured for several weeks.
Twisted Sister's Dee Snider and 1980s-era rock band Night Ranger were on hand for Mirvish's announcement.
Featuring a raft of hits by acts such as Journey, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Twisted Sister and Pat Benatar, Rock of Ages is a love story set in 1987 Los Angeles, following the romance of a big city rocker and a small-town girl.
It debuted in L.A. before eventually moving to Broadway in the spring, racking up five Tony Award nominations.
Rock of Ages will begin its Toronto run at the Royal Alexandra Theatre on April 27.
