Guns do play a crucial role in this subject’s life, as evidenced by this Danushevsky shot of the same man 16 years later. This firearm is actually a prop from a movie, and again, Danushevsky doesn’t address Jackson’s evident gun fixation. “I was interested in aging, and in time passing, so I tracked as many of my original subjects down as possible,” he says.
Camilleri says the time Danushevsky invested in this project puts him in the Canadian photographic community’s mainstream. “When I came back from New York, I was struck by how obsessive Canadian photographers are, by the amount of time they often devote to their projects.”
