The Belliveaus’ van was broken into once during their trip, in Vancouver. A miscommunication between police and the towing company left the brothers without their ride for three days. “Those three days were hard on David and I because we felt lost without our van,” Jaret says. Still, they recognized a man truly down on his luck, sleeping in a doorway of a shelter on the city’s east side.
