So much of what Belliveau achieves with these photographs happened outside of his camera’s frame. Expect Delays charts a stretch in the road of an evolving family dynamic. “Whether or not I got any good photographs,” Jaret says of the brothers’ cross-country adventure, “at least David and I were going to be a lot closer.” Their new bond fostered some creative collaboration: “David and I made this image as we drove across the Prairies. I took the photograph and David steered the car.”
