Actresses Penelope Cruz and Rosario Dawson will be honoured at the ALMA Awards in September, the annual awards to celebrate Latino achievement in the entertainment industry.

Acclaimed actress and producer, Salma Hayek, who is set to appear as Adam Sandler's wife in the 2010 film Grown Ups, will be given the Anthony Quinn Award for industry excellence while former boxer Oscar De La Hoya will be honoured for special achievement in sports television.

The ceremony, whose details were announced Tuesday in Los Angeles, will present a tribute to late actor Ricardo Montalban, whose character Mr. Roarke in the television series Fantasy Island became a pop icon in the early 1980s.

The show will be hosted by comedian George Lopez and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker.

Portuguese-Canadian singer Nelly Furtado will perform during the televised ABC special of the ceremony at UCLA's Royce Hall.

Furtado's fourth studio album,Mi Plan, is set for official release in September and is her first in Spanish. Her single Manos Al Aire has already charted at No.1 in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Other performers include David Archuelta, Selena Gomez, Sean Kingston, Pitbull and Luis Fonsi. The show's guest presenters are Adam Rodriguez, Benjamin Bratt, Michelle Rodriguez, Oscar Nunez and Rey Mysterio.

Former ALMA award winners, the stars of Ugly Betty, currently in its fourth season, will be celebrated. The stars of Disney's magic-themed kids show Wizards of Waverly Place will also be honoured.

The ALMA Awards were created in 1995 by the National Council of La Raza, a national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization, as part of its effort to promote diverse portrayals of Latinos in the media.

ALMA stands for American Latino Media Arts and also means "soul" in Spanish.
