There won't be any awkward Chris Brown moment at the Kids' Choice Awards — the embattled pop star has taken his name off the voting ballot.
Brown had been nominated for favourite male singer and favourite song for Kiss Kiss at the March 28 awards show on Nickelodeon.
The nominations came shortly before his arrest for allegedly attacking girlfriend and fellow pop star Rihanna.
A petition had been circulating to take his name off the ballot, but Nickelodeon said yesterday he was still on.
On Wednesday, Brown decided to withdraw his name out of consideration.
In a statement, his representatives said while Brown would like to speak directly to his fans, he can't because of the criminal case against him.
He thanked his fans for their support.
The 19-year-old performer was charged March 5 with assault and making criminal threats against a woman identified as "Robyn F." Rihanna's real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
Rihanna, 21, has remained in seclusion since the incident, which allegedly took place Sunday, Feb. 8 — the day of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
