Edmonton Folk Music Festival producer Tery Wickham announcing this year's lineup. (CBC) Jakob Dylan, son of folk icon Bob Dylan, will make his first-ever appearance this year at Edmonton's Folk Music Festival, organizers announced Wednesday.
Dylan, who sang with the Wallflowers and went solo in 2006, will perform along with folk festival regular Joan Osborne and hip-hop and funk artist Michael Franti at the Saturday show of the four-day event.
Indie-rock band Broken Social Scene and rocker Chris Isaak will close the event with performances Sunday.
Opening this year's Edmonton Folk Music Festival will be Aimee Mann and indie-performer Cat Power, who will play Thursday. The Friday lineup will include Hawksley Workman, a festival fixture.
"It's an Edmonton lineup with a little twist," said festival producer Terry Wickham.
"I think we have more balance this year between the old and the new. There's a really strong crop of new headliners. ... We are going out to make sure the under-21s are represented in the lineup."
Tickets for the 29th edition of the festival go on sale June 1, with four-day passes ranging from $129 to $149. Single evening passes are $50.
Prices are $5 to $10 higher than last year.
But on the up-side, Wickman said, the beer is still $4.
The festival runs Aug. 7-10 at Edmonton's Gallagher Park, in the city's river valley.
