Toronto woman in DiCaprio assault case gets bail

Last Updated: Friday, July 3, 2009 | 1:15 PM ET

A Toronto woman accused of assaulting actor Leonardo DiCaprio at a Los Angeles party has been granted bail pending an extradition hearing.

Ontario Superior Court Justice Faye McWatt ordered Aretha Wilson, 39, released after a court appearance Thursday.

Wilson, described as a former model, must surrender her passport and report regularly to police.

Evidence presented at the bail hearing is under a publication ban.

L.A. police have moved to extradite Wilson on charges of assault with a deadly weapon four years after the alleged incident. Toronto police arrested Wilson on Monday.

The charges stem from an incident in which a drinking glass was allegedly thrown at DiCaprio at a Hollywood house party in 2005. The actor required stitches after the alleged incident.
