American actress Farrah Fawcett, who has been in the headlines amid her ongoing battle with cancer, has reportedly returned to hospital — just one day after her longtime companion Ryan O'Neal vowed they would marry.

About a month after NBC aired a documentary about the 62-year-old Fawcett being diagnosed with and treated for anal cancer, which has reportedly spread to her liver, she has once again been hospitalized, according to a host of media reports.

A publicist for the original Charlie's Angeles actress would confirm only that Fawcett "is being treated for her condition."

She was admitted to hospital in April and was said to have been too ill to attend a premiere screening of her documentary Farrah's Story in May.

On Monday, in an interview with ABC-TV's Barbara Walters set to air on the newsmagazine 20/20 on Friday, the 68-year-old O'Neal announced that Fawcett had agreed to marry him.

The actor, who has had an off-and-on relationship with Fawcett since the 1980s and is father to her son, Redmond O'Neal, told Walters that while Fawcett is "fighting for her life," the couple will "absolutely" get married.

"We will, as soon as she can say 'Yes,' " he said, adding: "Maybe we can just nod her head."
