X Files star David Duchovny has confirmed that a second film based on the popular TV series is in the works.
Speaking on Saturday at the Television Critics Association press tour, Duchovny said original cast and crew members are signed up for the sequel to the film made in 1998.

"I'm supposed to see a script next week," said Duchovny, who also was promoting the Showtime comedy Californication in which he plays a self-destructive novelist.
X Files creators Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz have written a screenplay, and Carter wants to direct.
Gillian Anderson also is on board to star as agent Dana Scully, Duchovny said.
The film could be released as soon as 2008, he added.
There have been rumours about a film sequel for years, but the project was reportedly delayed by a lawsuit by Carter against 20th Century Fox Television that has been settled.
