'My artwork made me comfortable with being queer': How creating can lead to self-acceptance
Montreal visual artist Eve Saint Jean opens up about how art helped her embrace her identity
For Montreal visual artist Eve Saint Jean, art has been her avenue to self-acceptance — and she hopes her work can help others do the same.
"By using LGBTQ artwork, I want to encourage people to accept changes and differences in people," she says. "My artwork made me comfortable with being queer because it gives me a way to fully express myself but in a way that is not too obvious...Being queer made me more comfortable with my art because I accept myself as being different. So it really makes me more comfortable in my life with my differences."
In this video, get to know Saint Jean as she walks us through some of her process.
This film was made by PIQUE, who are sharing their visions of Montreal artists through CBC Arts.
