Free Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, set a Nov. 17 date for the release of the late comedian's memoir, Last Words.
Carlin's previous books included the comedy titles Brain Droppings, When Will Jesus Bring The Pork Chops? and Napalm and Silly Putty. He also recorded 23 comedy albums and made more than a dozen comedy TV specials. The iconic, boundary-pushing stand-up comedian died of heart failure on June 22, 2008.
In November, when Carlin was posthumously honoured with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, his daughter, Kelly Carlin McCall, revealed that he had been working on an autobiography.
According to Free Press, Carlin toiled on the tome with author, satirist and longtime National Lampoon staffer Tony Hendra for the last decade of his life.
The book is said to be a recount of Carlin's life story and look back at his half-century comedy career.
