Kim Mitchell wins a Juno for his 1986 album

The Story


Kim Mitchell was very surprised at the Juno Awards last month, when he won Best Album for his 1986 release Shakin’ Like a Human Being.   He joins Midday host Peter Downie to talk about winning, measuring success in the U.S., and what he's planning next.  In spite of the increased emphasis on business in today’s music industry “I love it still.”

• Kim Mitchell was born July 10, 1952 in Sarnia, Ontario.  

• The album Shakin' Like a Human Being eventually achieved triple platinum sales in Canada.  The hit song Patio Lanterns from the album peaked at 36 on the Aug. 9 1986 Billboard (U.S.) listing.  

• His next album was Rockland, in 1989, and won him a Juno for Male Vocalist of the Year.

• He had won a Juno for Most Promising Male Vocalist in 1982.
