Mansbridge One on One: Desmond Tutu

Peter Mansbridge is considered by many to be one of the most trusted faces in Canadian news. In his half-hour interview program called Mansbridge One on One, which still airs on CBC-TV, the renowned anchor and journalist speaks with fascinating people from all walks of life. Since it began airing in 1999, Mansbridge has interviewed politicians, business leaders, authors, activists, artists, journalists, and an eclectic variety of other various notable newsmakers.

"We are taking a heck of a long time learning one lesson that God seems to be wanting to teach us - that we are family," says South Africa's Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu. He's applying this idea to the world's current problems, from environmental issues to terrorism. In this 2002 episode of Mansbridge One on One, Tutu also comments on the horrors of Sept. 11. And when Mansbridge asks him how South Africa has changed since apartheid ended, he says with a smile, "What has changed is, we're free."
