New Job Training Program Could Start This Summer...

Yukon MP Ryan Leef has begun a round of consultation on the federal government's new Canada Job Grant program. It's shifting hundreds of millions of dollars from existing job training programs to the new scheme. Leef says it will be used to help fill labour shortages in areas like the skilled trades. He met with employer and employee representatives yesterday as well as education officials.

Shelagh Rowles is the executive director of the Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining at Yukon College. Anton Solomon is the acting director of labour market programs and services in the Yukon education department.
