Concerns Raised at Waterboard Hearing...

The Yukon Electrical Company application to re-license its Fish Lake Hydro plant is getting a lot of attention. Intervenors packed a Yukon Water Board hearing this week to question the renewal. Friends of McIntyre Creek want to see provisions protecting salmon in the downstream waters. Upstream, both Whitehorse First Nations are demanding compensation for damage done to their lands around Fish Lake.

Kathy Elliot speaks for the Jackson Lake Community Association, which represents about 30 nearby residents. She spoke with CBC reporter Vic Istchenko about their concerns, outside the hearing room.
