Making a Mountain Out Of A Mole-hill...

The Yukon Chamber of Mines is calling for cooler heads to prevail in the wake of a recent ruling from the Yukon Court of Appeal. That ruling backs a Ross River Dena challenge to the free entry staking rules for Yukon prospectors. The court says those rules "must be modified for the Crown to act in accordance with its constitutional duties" to consult with First Nations.

Media reports have suggested the ruling will have major implications for mining practices across Canada. The Yukon Chamber of Mines disagrees.
