Meeting Did Not Go Well....

It was a meeting that could have healed a growing rift between the Kaska and the Yukon government...But it didn't.

Yukon premier Darrell Pasloski had invited the Kaska leaders to meet with him, to discuss their opposition to changes to the oil and gas act. The amendments, now before the legislature, would remove a Kaska veto over oil and gas development on their lands.

The chiefs met the premier on Friday morning and they sat down with the CBC's Nancy Thomson that afternoon. She spoke with Kaska chiefs Liard McMillan of the Liard First Nation, and newly elected chief of the Ross River Dena council, Brian Ladue...
