A Visit to the Jackson Lake Healing Program

The Kwanlin Dun First Nation says it needs long-term stable funding if the Jackson Lake Healing Program, near Whitehorse, is to survive. The healing camp is open to all Yukoners dealing with substance abuse and the impacts of violence or other traumas such as residential school. The treatment combines First Nation traditional and contemporary approaches to healing.

Jeanie Dendys is the director of Kwanlin Dun's Justice Department. She says the First Nation's goal is to offer year-round treatment programs at the centre. Here's some of what she had to say:
