This week on our program we have two documentaries, both of which talk about a problematic relationship between Canadian society and its Native people. The second half of the show features an award-winning episode of ReVision Quest called "Will the Truth Bring Reconciliation" which talks about the issue of Indian Residential Schools.

But the show begins with the story about Oka crisis. Loreen Pindera covered the Oka crisis for CBC Radio and she went on to write a book about it. Her book was called People of the Pines.

Loreen is bringing the story of Francine Lemay. It was her brother, Corporal Lemay, who was killed on that first day at Oka. And it's the story of one francophone woman's journey to make peace with the Mohawks. Loreen's documentary "Bringing Down the Barricades" originally aired on C'est la Vie with Bernard St. Laurent in June 2010.
