Each year, on the last weekend in October, professionals from the worlds of folk, roots, ethnic and traditional music gather at WOrld Music EXpo, better known as WOMEX. The event, which brings together thousands of participants from all over the world, includes concerts, conferences and screenings of documentary films.
Since its inception in 1994, WOMEX has travelled all around the Europe -- from Berlin and Brussels to Seville and Marseilles. This fall, for a second year in a row, the festival will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In 1998, Stockholm was the city-host for WOMEX -- and the former CBC program "Global Village" travelled there to record a special edition of the show. The result was a smorgasbord of instruments and music from all over the world. Play Audio Clip Listen to WOMEX 1998 - A Global Village Special
