An instructor at the University of the Fraser Valley has been placed on leave after being accused of child luring earlier this week.
CBC is not naming the instructor as no criminal charges have been laid.
The allegations surfaced online on Tuesday. The information was reported to UFV and the RCMP the following day and both launched investigations.
RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Vrolyk said officers ran public safety risk evaluations to see if anyone was at immediate risk.
"These investigations are detailed and a lot of work needs to be done," said Vrolyk. "We can't shortcut it, so that does take time."
University spokesman Dave Pinton said the forced leave was imposed out of "an abundance of caution" during the investigations.
Pinton said the university isn't aware of any complaints from students, staff or faculty and that the alleged behaviour didn't happen on campus.
He said support services have been called to support anyone at the university who may be upset by the situation.
