Amelia Warren became a CEO before her 25th birthday when she took the helm at Epicure, a Saanich-based direct sales food and cooking wares company, in 2008.

"It's been an incredible journey," said Warren, who was recently selected as one of Business in Vancouver's "Forty under 40," a distinction for outstanding young professionals in B.C.

It was Warren's mother that founded the company, after seeing a demand for healthy meals that can be easily prepared.

"More and more consumers are really concerned about what they are eating, and what's in their products, and also what's not in their products," Warren said.

"We can offer a complete solution for our customers to make healthy wholesome quick meals easily"

Epicure uses a direct-sales business model in which independent "entrepreneurs" do in-home demonstrations and sales across the country of products including spice mixes and silicone containers which allow you to steam vegetables in the microwave.

"We're women-led and we provide employment opportunities for women because we have these amazing products but the way in which they're sold is through this network of entrepreneurs across Canada."

In the video above Warren tells CBC host Gloria Macarenko about Epicure, and how she came to be CEO.
