Whitewash: murder, guilt, ice and snow

Whitewash poster.jpgA new Quebec movie - in English - has just come to movie theatres in the province.

Whitewash is a drama and a dark comedy. It tells the story of a man who, one drunken night, runs over another man, with a yellow  snowplough.  He then buries the body and deals with the guilt of what he's done, deep in the snow in a forest.

The movie stars American actor Thomas Haden-Church as the snowplough driver and Quebec's Marc Labrèche as the victim. . .sort of.

Whitewash is a debut feature film for co-writer and director Emmanuel Hoss-Desmarais. But he's already picked up a few awards. This summer he won Best New Narrative Director prize at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. Earlier this week, he won the 2014 Claude Jutra Award for a debut movie. Not bad for a film that`s just opening!

Emmanuel Hoss-Desmarais joins Sonali Karnick in studio, along with his co-writer and long-time friend Marc Tulin.
