From Nonna, With Love

from Nonna.jpg
There aren't many sixteen-year-old young men that would take on a cookbook project but that's how old Mathew Foulidis and Matteo Agostinelli were four years ago when they decided they needed to preserve their grandmothers' Italian cooking.

Now their family heritage project is a beautiful cookbook called "From Nonna, With Love."  It's full of photos of delicious dishes and fresh figs and zucchini, stories about eating Italian-style and regional differences, and how-to illustrations. You just want to get eating when you pick it up!

Pirates or privateers? at Pointe-à-Callière

Pirates or privateers.jpgThe Pointe-à-Callière museum in Montreal has just opened a new family exhibit called "Pirates or Privateers?".

It gives kids the chance to climb aboard a privateer boat and find out what it takes to be a real pirate.

But it's also based on history - the real sailing careers of privateers in the St Lawrence River in the 17th century.

Philippe Boulanger works at the museum. He's a historian with a weakness for pirates.

He tells Sonali Karnick what's in store for families who want to go aboard during the holidays.
