Veena Gokhale: "Bombay Wali"
Going out for vada-pao, dodging scooters and cyclists on congested roads, heated debates about cricket matches, everyday life in Bombay, India, is exotic for Quebeckers. But in Veena Gokhale's collection of short stories set in the city, there's something familiar there too.
Veena Gokhale began her writing career as a journalist in Bombay in the 1980s. She now lives in Montreal. In "Bombay Wali and other stories," she brings contemporary Mumbai to life. Veena Gokhale spoke with Sonali Karnick about the other side of Bombay we don't often hear about.
