"The Sweet Sixteen", a true Canadian story
The true story of how sixteen female journalists created the Canadian Women's Press Club is told in the book The Sweet Sixteen by Linda Kay.
It all started in an unusual way - on a train to the World's Fair in St. Louis back in 1904. Both Francophone and Anglophone women journalists were aboard, and they wanted to write about more than just debutante balls and etiquette.
Author Linda Kay is also Chair and Associate professor at Concordia University's Department of Journalism. She spoke with Sonali Karnick about how she came across this story and about the women who went on that fateful trip to St.Louis.
