On Second Avenue, Yiddish musical theatre
The musical revue "On Second Avenue" returns to the Segal Centre after a successful run almost fifteen years ago.
It's a celebration of Yiddish theatre and its legacy in American culture - from its beginnings in 19th-century Romania, all the way to its golden age in 1930s New York.
Anna Fishman Gonshor will be talking about the historical background of the musical later today at Sunday@ the Segal.
She's a lecturer at the Department of Jewish Studies at McGill University.
She joins Sonali Karnick this morning, along with her husband Aron Gonshor, who performs in the show.
