Pastry chef to the rescue

Nick Malgieri has been baking, teaching and writing cookbooks for more than 30 years.  He's an inductee into the Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America. He's also director of the baking program at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.

His latest cookbook The Modern Baker: Time-Saving Techniques for Breads, Tarts, Pies, Cakes and Cookies is now out in paperback.

Later on Saturday, he's offering a workshop at Appetite for Books in Montreal.

But first, Chef Malgieri spent a whole hour with us! He talked with Sonali about how he got into pastry-making and answered some text-queries about making perfect pastry. He also did a pretty great Julia Child imitation!
