This Saturday! Growing produce on Montreal's rooftops

LUFA FARM rooftop view.jpgA new farm on the island of Montreal is growing enough vegetables to feed 2,000 people.

But it uses no soil, no manure, no land -- and it just happens to be in the middle of an industrial park.

Lufa Farms occupies a 31,000-square-foot greenhouse -- on top of a commercial building in Cartierville-Ahuntsic.

And it's hydroponic -- meaning the plants grow in water, without soil.

Call it "agriculture 2.0."

Mohamed Hage is the 29-year-old founder of Lufa Farms, and he joins our fill-in host Elizabeth Robertson in studio.
