Hugh Segal on why Bill C-377 was sent back to the House

Segal.jpgBack to the House...That's the fate of Bill C-377, a bill that would force unions to publicly disclose salaries and spending. And while Conservative government -- and MP Russ Hiebert who put forward the bill -- might well be less than happy about it, they've got a Conservative senator to thank for it.

Senator Hugh Segal wants an amendment to the Bill, and so do many other Conservative senators, including Nancy Greene, Richard Neufield, and Betty Unger, who voted with Segal...Forcing the bill into limbo for the summer. 49 senators voted in favour ot it, including a third of the Conservative caucus.

Senator Hugh Segal, Senator for Kingston Frontenac Leeds, joins us to explain what happened.
