The auditor general on a missing $3.1 billion

michael-ferguson-5-04362.jpgSince the attacks of September 11th, 2001, the government of Canada has set aside billions of dollars to fight terrorism. But it seems not all the money set aside has been spent.

 

In fact, Canada's auditor general reported today that nearly a quarter of the $12.9 billion budget is unaccounted for. That budget was supposed to be spent by 35 departments and agencies between 2001 and 2009.Michael Ferguson is Canada's auditor general, and he joined us with the details.
