Amelia Curran's construction enthusiasm

amelia.jpgIt's somehow fitting on Amelia Curran's beautifully constructed album Spectators, that there are so many references to construction and buildings...The song "Soft Wooden Towers", for instance...or the tune "Face On The News", where she refers to a fortress with doorways, with "each tiny window reflections of you, and the only way out was my head".

Throw in references to materials like "fabric of fear", lace that gets consumed, and metaphors about blackbirds on soft mahogany...and you have stepped into the dreamlike landscape constructed by Amelia Curran on the Juno-nominated album.

She'll be playing the NAC Studio on May 31, and is off to the Junos this weekend, but first she joined us in studio.
