Homan and her Ottawa rink take home the Scottie top prize
Four Ottawa curlers are the toast of the province today. Last night in Kingston, the team skipped by Rachel Homan defeated Manitoba's Jennifer Jones 9-6 to win their first ever Scotties Tournament of Hearts. In fact, the last time Ontario won the Scotties was in 1996 -- when Homan was just six years old.But the young team -- they're all in their 20s -- won't have time to dwell on their success. Next month, they'lll be representing Canada at the world championships in Riga, Latvia.
Lisa Weagle throws lead rocks for the team, and Emma Miskew is the third. They both curl out of the Ottawa Curling Club, and we reached them after their big win.
