The Trappist beer that everyone wants to get their hands on

It's been called the best beer in the world. The Westvleteren 12 is brewed at the Trappist abbey of St. Sixtus in Belgium. But here's the thing -- you can't just buy it at your local beer store. You have to call the abbey in advance...get your name on a list...and then go to Belgium YOURSELF and pick it up at the doorstep.

 

So you can imagine how excited some Ottawa beer drinkers were when they found out that two LCBO locations would be offering it up for sale today. The pricetag? $76.85 for a six-pack...and the limited supply didn't last very long. But Justin da Silva managed to snag the last case avaiable. He's a brewer at the Clocktower Brew Pub, and braved the lineups just to get his hands on some Westvleteren.
