The difficult issue of dementia & the workplace

It's a subject that's getting a lot of attention lately -- Senator Joyce Fairbairn was diagnosed with the dementia, and continued to work after the diagnosis, and it's sparked a debate around the issue of "mental incompetence."

 

But that's a problematic term for those familiar with dementia, who recognize the challenges and variables of facing the illness at work. Jaime Constable is first link outreach coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County, and she joined us to explain.
