Jazz singer Liane Carroll re-works the classics

On British jazz singer and pianist Liane Carroll's latest album, Up and Down, she casts a pretty impressive spell. One minute she will imbue the old Sinatra tune "Witchcraft" with new swinging life, the next she'll deliver a sizzling rendition of Laura Nyro's "Buy And Sell," where she exhales the words "cocaine and quiet beers"...Or she'll break your heart with her version of Michael McDonald's "I Can Let Go Now."

 

Over the last 11 albums, fans have been treated to the interpretations and originals she'll be bringing to the Jazz Festival stage tonight. But before she does, she joined us in studio.
