How True North Aid is helping Attawapiskat
Imagine entire families living in a tent or makeshift wooden shed when it's minus ten degrees. And with no access to indoor washrooms either.
They're conditions you'd expect in war-torn countries. But it's happening right here in Ontario.
The Attawapiskat reserve has called a state of emergency because dozen of families don't have proper housing or sanitation. This week, the Canadian Red Cross will visit the community north of Timmins. But a group in Ottawa has already been to the reserve and is heading back to help next month.
True North Aid is collecting funds and supplies for Attawapiskat. Rachael Brown is the founder of True North Aid, and she joined us on Monday's show.
