Fundraiser for Evergreen Academy in Haiti

evergreenkids.JPG

Ottawa couple Yvon Villarceau and Beth Cumming bought land in Platon Reno, Haiti where Villarceau's paternal grandmother had lived.  At first, they decided to plant bamboo to rejuvenate a deforested area. But soon a new idea started to grow. Now, five years later, the Evergreen Academy's first kindergarten class has opened.

The couple has financed the school project with their own money, and through the generosity of their friends and family. Today, a friend of the couple is hosting a fundraiser in her Gatineau home. Villarceau is selling his artwork. 100% of the funds go to the school.  The fundraiser started this afternoon, and runs until 9 p.m. If you're interested in going to the sale, or just finding out more about the school call 819-595-4728.
