Many members of Ottawa's Somali community are responding to the desperate cry for help from people living in the Horn of Africa. They've formed a committee that's co-ordinating a number of fundraisers for drought and famine relief. On Wednesday, Sabah Esse and Suad Daware dropped by the studio to tell Alan about their efforts. On Sunday, July 24th, everyone's invited to a Community BBQ at Vincent Massey Park. It runs from noon to 7 p.m. Volunteers will be grilling halal and kosher meats. There will be lots of other activities like games for kids, henna tattoing and face-painting. All funds raised will be donated to Human Concern International.
