Tales from the Gimli hospital -- on screen, and on stage

gimli_title.jpgGuy Maddin's Tales from the Gimli Hospital first hit movie screens 23 years ago. It brings to life the Icelandic myths and fables told in a hospital on the shores of Lake Winnipeg.

But this past weekend, the film was reframed as part of Prairie Scene. It included live musicians, foley artists and a narrator, all drawing on Gimli's Icelandic heritage. Alan met up with Guy Maddin earlier before rehearsal, and found out that all those new elements were making him a little nervous...
