Federal Election: First-time candidates in Ottawa

For most of us, the election experience is pretty similar each time around. But a few particular Ottawans are about to dive into some very new territory over these next 5 weeks. That's because they've decided to run -- for the first-time -- as federal candidates.

We managed to convince three of them to take a break from knocking on doors and meeting with voters, and join us on the line. Anita Vandenbeld is the Liberal candidate in the riding of Ottawa West-Nepean, Damian Konstantinakos is the Conservative candidate in Ottawa Centre, and James McLaren is the NDP Candidate in Ottawa South.

Note: in the interview, Mr. Konstantinakos says that the federal budget was voted down by the opposition parties. In fact, there was no vote on the budget because the government fell on a non-confidence motion after being found in contempt of Parliament.
