All in a Day at the Genies...and why doesn't anyone watch Canadian films, anyway?
The red carpet is rolled up by now, but Thursday on the show we went a bit Genie-mad. Live hits from the celebrity mahem at the NAC, interviews with screenwriters and producers and directors...all of it backed by the underlying concern: Why don't you watch more Canadian films?
First up, we started with the fans, and then interviews with 3 people involved with Barney's Version: the widow (Florence Richler), the producer (Robert Lantos), and the screenwriter (Michael Konyves).
Also in the show, we talked to Ottawa-born filmmakers Michael Dobbin and Kaveh Nabatian about what it would take to get more Canadian films on screens.
