Winning Apps
Throughout the past month we've been shining the spotlight on the app developers who are hoping to have some space on your smartphone -- and a piece of the winning pie at the city's Apps4Ottawa contest.
Well, we've got your winners -- two of them, anyway. Ekwa Duala-Ekoko won the overall prize, and a couple of others, for his Android app Ottawa Guide. It's a really neat program that allows you to hold up your phone to an Ottawa landmark, and instantly be linked to information about it.
No less neat is the app by Tyler Pearce, who won in the "best student app" and "having fun in Ottawa" categories for Ottawa Fun, which easily links Ottawans to recreational facilities, pools, rinks, and anything else you need for some, well, fun.
Ekwa and Tyler joined us on Wednesday's show to tell us what's next for their apps after their big wins, and how open data from the city might be used in the future.
