Ever wonder what's under the ground beneath your feet?
Evidently someone in Gatineau is doing just that. A mining developer has applied to go prospecting -- right under 480 hectares of land in western Gatineau. That would be land on which currently sits residential houses, parks, businesses and a golf course.
This potential prospector first has to get permission from the Quebec government for the right to look for minerals -- and then it would have to get permission from the individual landowners to start digging. And no one seems to know if there's anything valuable down there anyway. But the whole idea makes Alain Riel nervous -- he's the Gatineau city councillor for Duschenes ward, and he was our guest on Thursday.
