Tories get about half of the popular vote and only 40% of voters cast a ballot. So, only 20%of Albertans supported the PC's. 80% didn't vote for them and they have 87% of the seats. It is time for proportional representation so that everyone's vote counts and people have a reason to go to the polls.

vote would seem to support the decision Ed Stelmach has made with regards to royalities, trying to easy hospital wait times, and infrastructure issues.

What a shame. Once again, the PC's will waltz in claiming a mighty victory. In my town, only three candidates have signs out. What a lacklustre effort.
Where are Kate's (Green Party) signs?? She hasn't answered my emails...
I did however notice several "VOTE FOR PEDRO" signs around town. Perhaps that's the way to vote??

I agree with Bill's comments. If not for hearing the activity on radio about the upcoming election, I would not have known an election was happening. I haven't seen any local candidates take the initiative to engage residents...in fact I don't believe I've seen any candidate signs. This shouldn't be a free ride for PC - campaigning by doing nothing.

After one week of the campaign, I have seen little evidence of an election here. Youth are not engaged so I assume that the conservative senior population will assure the reelection of the tired and unimaginitive PC party. It's sad.
Political observers in Alberta are calling it remarkable and opposition politicians are wondering what hit them after Ed Stelmach guided his Conservative party Monday to one of its biggest majorities ever.
As Premier Ed Stelmach and Alberta Conservatives savour their sweeping election victory, some people are raising a nagging concern: why so few people bothered to vote.
Voters in Alberta stuck with tried-and-true blue, giving the Progressive Conservative party an unprecedented 11th consecutive majority government in Monday's provincial election.
